What We Believe

We know we cannot limit God to mere articles of faith, but we recognize the importance of doctrine. The Bible teaches that doctrine must be sound; it must be pure; it must be scriptural; and it must be obeyed. It is important for every believer to have a firm grounding in basic fundamental doctrines found in Scripture. We at Parkside Church offer the following statements as a summary:

1. THE HOLY SCRIPTURES: We believe in the plenary and verbal inspiration of the accepted canon of sacred Scripture as originally given.

2. THE ETERNAL GODHEAD: We believe in the Eternal Godhead, Who has revealed Himself as one God, existing in three Persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit; distinguishable but indivisible.

3. THE FALL OF MAN: We believe in the Creation, Test, and Fall of man, as recorded in Genesis; his total spiritual depravity and inability to attain to divine righteousness.

4. THE DEITY OF CHRIST: We believe the only Savior of men is the Lord Jesus Christ. Conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, He is very God and very man.

5. THE DEATH AND RESURRECTION OF CHRIST: We believe that Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again the third day; and that He personally appeared to His disciples.

6. THE ASCENSION AND SECOND COMING OF CHRIST: We believe in the bodily Ascension of Jesus to Heaven; His exaltation; and His personal, literal and bodily Second Coming for the church.

7. SALVATION BY GRACE: We believe in the salvation of sinners by Grace, through repentance and faith in Jesus' perfect and sufficient work on the Cross of Calvary, by which we obtain remission of sins.

8. WATER BAPTISM: We believe in the necessity of water baptism by immersion, in the Name of the Eternal Godhead, in order to fulfill the command of Christ.

9. THE BAPTISM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT: We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit as an experience subsequent to salvation, with the scriptural evidence of speaking in other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance.

10. THE GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT: We believe in the operation of the gifts of the Spirit, as manifested in the early Church.

11. THE SPIRIT-FILLED LIFE: We believe in a Spirit-filled life of separation from the world and perfecting holiness in the fear of God, as an expression of Christian faith.

12. DIVINE HEALING: We believe in the healing of the body by divine Power, as practiced by the Early Church.

13. THE LORD'S SUPPER: We believe in the Table of the Lord, commonly called Communion or the Lord's Supper, for believers.

14. A LITERAL HEAVEN AND HELL: We believe in eternal life for the believer, and eternal punishment of the unbeliever.

15. THE JUDGEMENT OF SATAN: We believe in the reality and personality of Satan, and in the eternal judgment of Satan and his angels.
